INTRODUCTION OF OSCAR-4 AT THE HIGH FLUX REACTOR (PETTEN)

Since 2005 the nodal diffusion based code system, OSCAR-3, was used for reactor support calculations of operational cycles High Flux Reactor in Petten, The Netherlands. OSCAR uses a two-step deterministic calculation, which homogenized cross sections are generated lattice environments using neutron transport simulations, and then passed to core simulator model full reactor. Limitations OSCAR-3 led need improved modelling capabilities better physics models components present core. OSCAR-4 offers improvements over its approach homogenization, new version allows movable such as control rods. Fuel inventories calculated can also easily be exported MCNP, calculation individual plate powers local reaction rates amongst others. For these reasons is currently being introduced tool at Reactor. In this work steps that were followed validate presented, include results validation from both MCNP6 multiple cycles. addition differences section library evaluations their impact on presented MCNP model.
